Mission, vision and values

Mission

We bring Central Oregon together to prevent violence in our schools, by helping young people in crisis get care early, keeping firearms out of the wrong hands, and supporting each other through loss.

Vision

A Central Oregon where every child feels as safe at school as at home; where a struggling young person is noticed and helped long before a crisis; where every firearm in a home with kids is locked; and where no family here ever again has to learn the name of a school the way we learned Silver Rail's.

Values

Six values guide how we work.

  • Compassion

We lead with care for victims, families, students, and the young people who are struggling. We never shame grieving families.

  • Courage

We take on hard conversations, including firearms, without flinching or demonizing anyone.

  • Calm

We act from steadiness, not panic. Our messages reduce fear rather than feed it.

  • Curiosity

We ask what actually works, borrow proven programs, and measure results.

  • Common ground

Nonpartisan by design. Gun owners, hunters, parents, teachers, clinicians and law enforcement all belong here.

  • Connection

Isolation is a risk factor for kids and adults alike. We build relationships before we build programs.
